TYREPLUS STARTS TO REBRAND & TRANSFORM OUTLETS IN THE EAST COAST OF PENINSULAR MALAYSIA

Ask any Malaysian what would a usual Malaysian style auto workshop, kedai 'foremen' or garage be like and most would conjure up images of a cluttered, messy and greasy space in a hot, humid and noisy environment. Apart from these noticeable traits, most traditional auto service centres sometimes fail to offer consistently reliable, trustworthy and quality service, leaving car or fleet owners in doubt if their vehicle has been safely tended to. Send in a car to be fixed and you may leave with a car having less screws or bolts than when it entered the garage.

So in a bid to alter perception and offer Malaysians a convenient and high-quality car care service by a trusted, reliable and caring professional network, Michelin Malaysia had introduced its internationally-recognised TYREPLUS retail network nationwide back in 2009. Since its introduction, TYREPLUS has grown to be the largest independent car maintenance network in Malaysia, boasting over 50 outlets and growing. The outlets provide ancillary services ranging from tyre replacement, tyre repairs, wheel balancing, wheel alignment and regular car maintenance with the support of leading international brands including Michelin, BFGoodrich, Bosch, Mobil 1, Total and Tech.  Furthermore, TYREPLUS outlets these days promise comfortable waiting areas equipped with air-condition and even Wi-Fi.

To accompany its fast expansion, TYREPLUS recently unveiled its new visual and corporate identity, in line with its plans to rebrand its network in Malaysia over the next 4 years. This includes 5 TYREPLUS outlets in the East Coast region.

According to Michelin Malaysia’s Managing Director, Mr. Pascal Nouvellon, its investment to rebrand its outlets in the East Coast mirrored the importance of the region as a significant market for the Company. Outlets include UTS Tyre Service Sdn Bhd in Kuantan, Pomcek Solutions Sdn Bhd in Kota Bahru and Pusat Servis Kenderaan Roda Pro in Kuala Terengganu to name a few.

“The East Coast region has remained an important and fast-growing market for TYREPLUS. Our strategic investment is in tandem with our goal to meet the needs of Malaysian car owners nationwide who demand and expect maximum safety for themselves and their families. At TYREPLUS, safety is a top priority as such we offer top quality products and services, delivered by well trained professionals,” said Mr. Nouvellon.

Pomcek Solutions Sdn Bhd a car service centre located in Kota Bharu had stated that signing on as a TYREPLUS dealer was a sound decision for the 30-year family business. According to the third-generation outlet director, Mr. Richard Tan Mr. Richard Tan (front row (kneeling), second from left) with his employees at the outlet), the in-depth and thorough procedures each TYREPLUS outlet is required to follow, assures customers of high quality end-to-end service unlike traditional service centres.

“There is much that a business like ours can learn from an internationally-recognised network. TYREPLUS differs from the normal concept of a car workshop. It offers customers convenient and hassle-free service, looking into even the smallest details. We do not just address the customer’s car issues but (because of TYREPLUS) perform a 32-point check on all vehicles to ascertain its safety. In doing so, we hope to work hand-in-hand with TYREPLUS to improve road safety in Malaysia,” he added.

Whilst the recent slow-down in the car service market is generally felt nationwide, Mr. Eddie Chua (far right - photo above), Manager of Pusat Servis Kenderaan Roda Pro in Kuala Terengganu is confident that his six-year partnership with TYREPLUS will offer the business an added advantage to combat this downward trend.

“Michelin is a well-recognised brand and TYREPLUS is highly-regarded across the region for its professional service and trusted products. Hence, we are delighted to be part of this network.

Having an international brand as a partner is a big advantage to our business. Over the years, TYREPLUS has helped us by providing skills and product knowledge trainings, as well as marketing and promotion support. Our customers are also assured of quality at our outlets due to the trusted workmanship we have developed and the great products we offer,” he added.

“Joining TYREPLUS was a natural progression for us as we have enjoyed a good partnership with Michelin over the past year. Together with their support, we look forward to open more TYREPLUS outlets in the state,” said Mr. Ch’ng, Manager of Kota Bahru’s Jayamas Tyre Service Centre Sdn Bhd.

TYREPLUS is Michelin’s global brand of its franchise retailing concept that has an independent network of tyre retail stores across huge markets such as China, Thailand, Australia, India, the Middle-East and South America. It is a one-stop-centre offering customers end-to-end auto servicing solutions all under one roof.

From May 28 to June 30, customers shopping at TYREPLUS have a chance to receive Michelin cooler bags, TYREPLUS branded petrol cards and complementary Tech tyre repair services with the purchase of MICHELIN tyres. Customers may also receive a free anti-slip mat with the purchase of Mobil 1 lubricants.
