REFINED AND IMPROVED PROTON IRIZ OFFICIALLY RELEASED

PROTON has officially launched the refined Proton Iriz.  The refined model, which was earlier displayed for bookings at the DRB-HICOM Autofest on 19 May 2017, is now available in all PROTON showrooms nationwide. It now features improvements that PROTON had incorporated in the 'sedan version' of the Iriz, the Proton Persona when it was launched in August 2016. Now the company has incorporated all of the aspects of the improved chassis into the Iriz. About time too!

The refinements made to the Iriz include improved Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH). This have actually made the Iriz a much better drive than before as it is quieter by a fair bit as well as having less vibration than before. PROTON have also added the Eco-Drive Assist Indicator as well as improvements in the ECU and Transmission Control Unit (TCU) calibration that provides linear response for improved driveability.

The 1.3L Executive variant also receives an upgrade in the form of push-start button which was previously only fitted in the 1.6L variant. PROTON also created more product differentiation in the form of 2-tone exterior colours for the 1.6L Premium variant where the roof, spoiler and side mirrors are black. As for the interior, the newly refined Iriz has red stitching to the leather wrap steering (in the 1.6) and seats have a new fabric design. Equipment levels are high with ESC as standard and a very good ASEAN NCAP rating for safety.

We have driven the refined Iriz around PROTON's test track and we actually found it so much better than the previous variant. It now sits higher on our list of very affordable compact hatchbacks because of the improvements made to the chassis. It is like the Persona sedan, but now it is clothed in a sporty looking hatchback instead of a tall and narrow compact sedan. Affordable fun driving has returned to a PROTON hatchback. The refined Proton Iriz is available for test drives and bookings can be made at all PROTON Edar outlets and roadshows nationwide.  The new Iriz comes in 4 variants – the 1.3L Standard (MT & CVT), 1.3L Executive CVT and 1.6L Premium CVT, priced from RM43,800 to RM58,800, and available in 2 new colours, Ruby Red and Carnelian Brown, apart from the existing Iriz colours, Graphite Grey, Atlantic Blue and Cotton White.
